The era of Dylan Falco at G2 Esports has officially come to a close. After nearly five years of domestic dominance and consistent international presence, the organization confirmed on August 31 that it has parted ways with its long-standing head coach.
This departure follows a transitional summer for the team. Falco was moved to the bench in July 2026, shortly after the squad’s exit from the Mid-Season Invitational, with legendary G2 figure Luka "Perkz" Perković stepping in to take the helm. While Falco remained under contract for several weeks following that internal shift, this latest announcement marks a clean break for both parties.
Falco’s legacy in Berlin is defined by unparalleled domestic success. During his tenure, which began ahead of the 2022 season, he helped secure 11 LEC trophies, cementing G2’s status as the most decorated organization in European League of Legends history. Beyond the silverware, he became known for his unconventional drafts and his ability to navigate the team through various roster iterations.
However, the decision to move on was driven by a desire to break the team’s international ceiling. General Manager Romain Bigeard previously indicated that the organization felt a change in leadership was necessary after the winter season to help the squad find a new gear. With Perkz now firmly in the head coach role, G2 is betting on a familiar face to bridge the gap between their regional supremacy and global aspirations.
The timing of this official departure comes as the team fights for its survival in the LEC Summer Playoffs. With a crucial series against Team Vitality on the horizon, G2 is looking to secure their spot at the upcoming World Championship. As the G2 Esports roster continues to adapt to the new coaching structure, all eyes will be on whether this high-stakes gamble pays off on the international stage.
