The North American Counter-Strike scene sees a familiar face stepping into a new leadership role. Marsborne has officially promoted Ben "ben1337" Smith to head coach, a move that solidifies the organization's technical staff following the departure of Hunter "Lucid" Tucker on October 15th.
For those tracking the team’s development, this transition comes as little surprise. Since joining the organization alongside his former BOSS teammates in April 2026, ben1337 has been an integral part of the Marsborne setup. He initially served as an assistant coach, working closely with the squad during their recent roster overhaul. His familiarity with the current lineup—which includes Adam "Grizz" Golden, Bogdan "ogwizard" Savula, Adam "freshie" Paterson, Chance "WUMBO" Boyer, and Nick "nicx" Lee—provides a level of continuity that is often missing during mid-season coaching changes.
A Proven Track Record
Ben1337 is no stranger to the head coaching mantle. He previously stepped in as the interim head coach during FRAG TAP Reloaded in May, steering the team to a respectable second-place finish. His transition into the permanent role follows a period of stabilization for the team, which recently secured a third-place finish at the CCT North America 2026 Cup #1 after a victory over Chicken Coop.
With the CCT North America Challengers #1 event kicking off this week, the timing of this announcement is calculated. Marsborne enters the bracket as one of the teams to watch, and having a solidified voice behind the players is crucial for their performance in these high-stakes, single-elimination matches.
The team has been on a steady trajectory since their mid-year roster shift, and the management clearly believes that ben1337 is the right person to guide this young core. With his deep experience as an IGL and his clear passion for developing talent, the Legion looks poised to continue their climb through the regional rankings.
