The landscape of Dota 2 has shifted in Shanghai. In a high-stakes showdown at The International 2026, Team Yandex delivered a clinical performance to dismantle Nigma Galaxy’s momentum, securing a 2-1 victory and punching their ticket to the upper bracket finals.
After a campaign that looked shaky during the group stages, Team Yandex has found their rhythm at the perfect time. The series against Nigma Galaxy was a testament to their resilience. While Nigma entered the match riding a wave of confidence, Yandex’s tactical execution—anchored by the veteran presence of Martin "Saksa" Sazdov and the aggressive playmaking of Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov—proved too much to handle.
For Nigma Galaxy, the loss is a bitter pill to swallow. Despite a strong showing throughout the tournament, the team couldn't find an answer to Yandex’s map control in the deciding third game. The defeat forces the squad into the lower bracket, where the margin for error is non-existent.
A New Era for Yandex
This result marks a career-defining moment for the Yandex roster. Since their formation, the organization has been steadily climbing the ranks, but a Top 3 finish at the biggest event of the year validates their aggressive roster strategy. The synergy between DM, Saksa, and the rest of the core has evolved from a collection of individual talents into a cohesive unit that thrives under the pressure of the main stage.
What Lies Ahead
With this victory, Team Yandex moves one step closer to the Aegis of Champions. They now prepare for the upper bracket final against Team Vision, a team that has been equally impressive throughout the event. Meanwhile, Nigma Galaxy must regroup quickly to face the lower bracket gauntlet.
