The Esports World Cup 2026 kicks off with a high-profile Group C clash as Vitality faces off against 100 Thieves. In a high-stakes Best of 1 format, every round is critical, and both teams are looking to secure an early advantage in the group standings. You can follow the live action and check the latest updates on the Vitality vs 100 Thieves match page.
Recent Form and Momentum
Vitality enters this tournament looking to regain their championship form. Their recent record has been a mixed bag; while they secured a clean 2-0 victory against BetBoom Team and a 2-1 win over MOUZ during the IEM Cologne Major 2026 Stage 3, they suffered a 1-2 defeat to Team Falcons in the playoffs and a 0-2 loss to Liquid in the BLAST Bounty Summer 2026 Qualifier. Consistency will be the key for the European giants as they navigate this opening match.
On the other side, 100 Thieves arrive with significant momentum from the open qualifiers. They have been dominant, sweeping 1WIN, NADE, and SadFamous 2-0, while also taking down BC.Game Esports 2-1 and Infinite 0-2. While the level of competition in the qualifiers differs from the main stage of the Esports World Cup, the squad’s confidence is clearly at an all-time high.
Betting Analysis and Expectations
The opening odds set by the bookmakers reflect the tier difference between these two organizations. Vitality enters as the heavy favorite at 1.22, while 100 Thieves are positioned as the clear underdog at 3.8.
In a Best of 1 format, the "upset potential" is always higher than in a series. However, Vitality’s experience at the highest level of CS2 should provide the stability needed to handle the pressure. Expect Vitality to dictate the pace early, but do not count out 100 Thieves if they manage to secure a strong start. Always remember to gamble responsibly and keep track of your bankroll as you follow the tournament.
