The race for the PGL Major Singapore 2026 is officially in the books, and the final days of qualification were nothing short of a rollercoaster. With the Valve Regional Standings (VRS) deadline passing, the landscape of the 32-team field has solidified, leaving some titans breathing a sigh of relief while others are left to wonder what could have been.
Eternal Fire’s Dramatic Major Ticket
The most significant shift came from the Stake Ranked Episode 5, where Eternal Fire turned a desperate situation into a triumphant campaign. Facing fnatic in a high-stakes best-of-five grand final, the team found themselves in a 0-2 hole. In a display of resilience that will be remembered as a defining moment of this cycle, they mounted a reverse sweep, taking the series 3-2. This victory wasn't just about the $25,000 prize; it was the direct catalyst that secured their presence in Singapore.
100 Thieves Make History
Across the Atlantic, the pressure was equally suffocating. 100 Thieves entered the FiReSPORTS Last Chance tournament in Argentina with their backs against the wall. Having never appeared at a CS Major, the stakes were existential. They navigated the bracket with clinical precision, eventually dismantling Wildcard 2-0 in the grand final. Despite a tense 19-16 overtime victory on Cache, the team remained composed, finally punching their ticket to their first-ever Major.
The VRS Reality Check
These results highlight the brutal nature of the current qualification system. With the final VRS snapshot serving as the ultimate judge, teams like FaZe Clan have spent the last few weeks in a state of constant anxiety. Comments from stars like Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken—who noted that "all our careers are at risk" following a difficult loss to Nemiga—perfectly capture the tension felt across the professional circuit.
As we look toward the start of the event on November 24, the field is set. The mix of established powerhouses and hungry newcomers like 100 Thieves promises a volatile and exciting tournament.
