The debate is officially settled, at least for the next few weeks. Danil "donk" Kryshkovets has once again proven why he is the most feared rifler in the game, securing the MVP award at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris.
With an astonishing 1.50 tournament rating, the Russian prodigy was the engine behind Team Spirit’s successful campaign. While the team faced a gauntlet of top-tier opposition, including a crucial victory over Vitality that snapped a painful losing streak, it was donk’s ability to find impact in every single round that defined their path to the trophy.
A Masterclass in Consistency
Winning the EWC title wasn't just about the grand final, where Spirit dismantled FUT Esports 3-1. It was about the entire tournament run. Throughout the event, donk maintained a level of performance that has become terrifyingly standard for him. Whether it was opening up sites or clutching in high-pressure situations, he remained the focal point of the roster.
This victory marks Spirit’s second Big Event title of 2026, following their success at PGL Astana. For a team that faced significant internal and external pressure earlier this year, this result feels like a definitive return to form. The chemistry between the core, combined with the tactical guidance of Sergey "hally" Shavaev, seems to have clicked at the perfect time.
What This Means for the Circuit
With the Esports World Cup trophy in their cabinet and donk in this kind of form, Team Spirit has firmly re-established themselves as the team to beat heading into the next phase of the season. The rest of the circuit will be forced to adapt, as stopping a peak-performance donk remains the ultimate puzzle in modern CS2.
As we look toward upcoming events, the question isn't whether Spirit can compete, but who can actually challenge them when their star player is operating at this intensity.
