FC Barcelona is making a bold statement in the Valorant scene. After closing the chapter on its five-year League of Legends project, the Catalan organization has shifted its full focus toward cementing a legacy in Riot Games’ tactical shooter. The club has officially unveiled its new roster for the 2027 season, a squad clearly built with one objective: breaking into the VCT EMEA tier.
The new-look team features a mix of veteran experience and hungry talent. Leading the charge as IGL and captain is Adolfo "Fit1nho" Gallego, a cornerstone of the Barça project who continues his tenure with the club. He is joined by Semyon "purp0" Borchev, a high-profile signing who brings significant experience from his time at Team Liquid and his run as a European runner-up. Rounding out the lineup are Yusuf Emre "Proxh" Tunc, an EMEA Challengers champion, Ondřej "MONSTEERR" Petrů, who brings recent VCT experience, and Mohammad "Pa1ze" Khatib, a standout from the Tier 2 scene.
A New Era for Barça eSports
This transition comes at a pivotal moment. While the organization was not selected for the VCT EMEA partnership program for 2027, the club’s commitment remains unshaken. By pivoting away from League of Legends, Barça is funneling its resources into a Valorant division that has already tasted domestic success, having won the Rising Spain title in 2026.
The coaching staff remains a point of stability, with Juan Carlos "meisoN" Chacón returning as Head Coach for his fourth year, supported by assistant Víctor "xikii" García. This continuity in leadership is designed to integrate the new arrivals quickly as they face the immediate pressure of the Open Qualifiers.
The road ahead is demanding. To reach the VCT EMEA stage, the team must navigate the grueling Open Qualifier bracket, which kicks off this week. With the talent assembled, expectations are high for the Culers to make a deep run. For those following the journey, you can track the team's progress and upcoming matches on our site.
