The path to the 2026 World Championship just got a lot clearer for the LCK elite. In a display of clinical dominance at the CHZZK LoL Park, Gen.G dismantled KT Rolster with a clean 3-0 sweep in the Upper Bracket Round 2 of the LCK Playoffs. This victory does more than just keep their domestic title defense alive; it officially punches their ticket to Worlds 2026, marking the organization’s seventh consecutive appearance on the international stage.
The Canyon Factor
While the series ended in a sweep, the opening map was anything but a foregone conclusion. KT Rolster entered the game with a clear plan, controlling the early tempo and securing four drakes to build a significant lead. Just as KT looked poised to draw first blood in the series, Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu intervened.
In a sequence that will likely define this year’s playoff highlight reel, Canyon executed back-to-back Elder Dragon steals. These clutch plays completely erased KT’s gold advantage, swinging the momentum entirely in Gen.G’s favor and allowing them to close out the game with a decisive ace. It was a masterclass in objective control that left KT scrambling to recover.
Dominance and Qualification
Following the heartbreak of Game 1, KT Rolster struggled to find their footing. The second map descended into a chaotic brawl, but Gen.G’s composure under pressure was the deciding factor. They navigated the skirmishes with superior coordination, winning the fight for the Dragon Soul and securing another clean ace to move to match point.
The third game was the final nail in the coffin. Gen.G left no room for error, displaying superior map movements and objective control from the opening minutes. By the time the final nexus fell, it was clear that Gen.G remains the team to beat in Korea.
For KT Rolster, the journey doesn't end here, but it certainly gets harder. They drop to the Lower Bracket, where they must fight to keep their season alive. Meanwhile, this result has a ripple effect across the region: T1 has now also officially qualified for Worlds 2026 due to the bracket structure and Gen.G’s win.
