The trophy drought is officially over. After 140 days without silverware, Team Vitality has returned to the top of the podium, clinching the StarSeries Fall 2026 title in Barcelona. It was a grueling Sunday for the squad, who had to navigate a six-map marathon to secure their victory, but the result serves as a massive statement of intent for the rest of the season.
A Day of Redemption
Vitality’s path to the trophy was anything but straightforward. After falling to Aurora Gaming in the upper bracket final, the team was forced into a high-stakes consolidation final against FURIA. They handled that challenge with clinical precision, sweeping the Brazilians 2-0 to earn an immediate rematch against the very team that had sent them to the lower bracket just 24 hours prior.
In the grand final, the narrative flipped entirely. Despite the fatigue of playing six maps in a single afternoon, Vitality looked revitalized. They dismantled Aurora 3-1, showcasing a level of tactical discipline that had been missing in their earlier encounter. Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was, as expected, the centerpiece of the operation. Posting a 1.51 rating across the series, the French superstar walked away with the tournament MVP, his 33rd career honor.
What This Means for the Roster
The return of William "mezii" Merriman from parental leave has clearly stabilized the team. His presence allowed the core to find their rhythm again, and the chemistry on the server looked closer to their peak form than it has in months. For a team that has been under the microscope for failing to convert deep runs into trophies, this win is a vital confidence boost.
With this trophy in the cabinet, Vitality proves that their "slump" was perhaps more of a transitional phase than a decline. They head into the next set of events with momentum on their side and the tactical lessons from Barcelona firmly in their pocket.
